Can alittle water in a gas can cause a mower not to start?
I left a gas can in the yard while it was raining yesterday, bot 20$ worth of gas filled it, then put the gas in my mower and now it wont start. I am about to dump out all the gas, could rain have tainted the gas?

- yes it couldve. try using sum dry gas and add it to the can and the mower.
- Yes. The water is heavier than the gas so it will be on the bottom. In the gas tank of the lawn mower, if the water gets in the line to the engine where it should ignite with the spark plug, it will NOT START. Since WATER does not burn like gas. You will have to get some HEET to evaporate the water in the gas tank and then it should start.
- Yes
- Dry gas mixes with the water making it combustible. Get some heet or any other brand of dry gas and it will fix you right up.
- Yes, but don't throw the gas out. You can get Sta-Bill, it takes water out of fuel and also acts as a fuel stabilizer that will enable you to keep the fuel for 12 months without it deteriorating. One can, 8 oz. will do the trick. You can get it at Wal Mart.
- You can pour the gas into another container, all but the last say 1/2 gallon. Then pour the last bit into a clear glass jar. You can see the water on the bottom- if no water- then pour it into your other container. continue this until you find the water. Then just pour the water out on the ground. you may have to dump the gas in the lawn mower. If necessary- remove the spark plug and continue trying to start it until the line is clear of water. then replace the plug, add more fuel and crank it.
- dump the gas and start fresh,in both the can and mower
