How do gas companies expect Americans to afford these outrageous gas prices?
People can't afford this! It's because of the gas companies raising their gas per gallon that alot of other companies can't collect their money each month from customers whether it be a phone bill, rent, grocery stores and retail stores suffering because of more money to put into gas tanks to get where they need to go, bill collectors can't get their money because of everybody's money going to Shell, Chevron, and BP gas stations taking everybody's money. Don't you agree? How do you expect the average American not to go into debt when he/she hasn't received a raise and the only raise is the gas prices per gallon?

- I thought americans were rich and lived in the best country in the world. If Canadians can afford to pay more for gas than americans (which Canadians do, we pay $1/litre) then americans should be able to afford gas at $4/gallon. Hey Pikachu - you can't drill on the polar ice caps. That's Canadian sovereignty.
- Nobody even blame this on Obama I'm just saying this early. Christ when Bush was in office it went over $4 a gallon.
- Ah.. the first whine of 2009. Gas prices are so high because Obama is stealing oil from Iraq. Or something like that.
- There is one easy solution for this whole gas issue. 1. Drill Alaska and the polar ice caps for the oil in them. - Short Term Fix and 2. Shift research for wind/solar/biodiesel/other natural renewable energy sources to replace oil. - Long Term Fix Why is that so hard to figure out?
- It's all Obama's fault since he's just taking care of his Muslim buddies. Honestly, the oil companies are buying their product from OPEC whose price is controlled by investors. Do some Econ 101 reading and you'll see that oil companies aren't the problem. There are many links in the chain all with different issues. If any one of them has a price increase, they all have a price increase.
- But Ă˜bama was supposed to pay our bills for us. I don't understand?
- not smart people here today...or any day ... there is plenty of oil so the supply demand stuff goes out the window..oil tankers are lined up in the gulf because they have no place to offload we are full....the brokers are not selling the oil to the refineries to process artificially raising the price of oil....do some homework people... last year I told you it was the brokers and it was yelled supply and demand...well, that is thrown out now isn't it ?? what's the reason now if I'm wrong...people people people....
- They care about profit . They are not Patriotic -nor have any compassion. They are the reason why Green energy has not been available all these years . And this is One industry I would Love to see Nationalized .
- You better pray we never see Cap and Trade. We'll be riding bicycles and rickshaws to work.
- Every single question or position you have mentioned can be easily solved with a few moves that one political party refuses to listen to. Energy at home is the answer. More American oil. Drill and drill often. Mine coal and use it. Shale and manufacture natural gas form it. Nuclear and relieve the demands on liquid petroleum products. Refineries...build more and make it worth while. Now...you are talking about a few MILLION jobs in the sector with exploration, drilling, mining, and construction. Whine all you want about "global climate change", but, I can find as many scientific minds who can disagree with results and the propaganda and lies that bombard us on the national leftist media give me pause to wonder what is more important. Jobs and lives or a suspected environmental impact? Now, I've just solved jobs and the financial crisis.
- Like the oil companies care. Buy a smaller car, plan your trips, car pool, drive slower, keep your tires inflated and your engine in good working condition and buy locally produced products. The energy issue won't be solved until all consumers accept responsibility for the amount of fossil fuels they consume. Stop blaming the oil companies for trying to gouge the public at every opportunity. That is simply what corporations do. To expect more of them is incredibly naive
- Well, that is how inflation works. The flooding of the markets with dollars will only make matters worse. As the so called "stimulus" dollars influx the economy, we can all expect to pay more for everything. Much more. Tighten your seat belt and get ready for the long down hill ride, brought to us by the Washington politicians.
- To have to explain to you the many variables that go into gasoline prices would be a waste of my time. E-mail privately for the complete skinny.
- They figure we paid it last summer. So why not this summer.
